ClipTrace collects the following types of data to provide clipboard history functionality:

• Copied Text: The text content you copy while browsing

• Page Title: The title of the webpage where the text was copied
• Timestamp: When the copy action occurred

2. Data Storage

All data collected by ClipTrace is stored locally on your device only:

• Data is stored using Chrome's local storage API (chrome.storage.local)
• No data is uploaded to any server or cloud service
• Data remains on your device and is never transmitted over the internet
• Storage is limited to your browser's local storage quota

3. Data Usage

The data collected is used exclusively for the following purposes:

• Displaying your clipboard history in the extension sidebar
• Enabling you to search and filter your copied content
• Allowing you to navigate back to the original source of copied text
• Providing text highlighting functionality on source pages

4. Sensitive Information Protection

ClipTrace includes built-in protections for sensitive information:

• Password fields are automatically excluded from clipboard tracking
• Content from password input fields is never captured or stored
• You can add specific websites to a blacklist to prevent tracking on sensitive sites
• Incognito mode browsing is not tracked (respects browser privacy settings)

5. User Control and Rights

You have complete control over your data:

• Delete individual items: Remove any clipboard entry at any time
• Clear all data: Delete your entire clipboard history with one click
• Export data: Download your clipboard history as a JSON file
• Import data: Restore previously exported clipboard history
• Auto-cleanup: Configure automatic deletion of old entries
• Website blacklist: Prevent tracking on specific websites

6. Third-Party Sharing

ClipTrace does not share, sell, or transmit your data to any third parties.

• No analytics or tracking services are used
• No advertising networks have access to your data
• No external servers receive your clipboard data
• The extension operates entirely offline after installation

7. Data Retention

Your clipboard history is retained according to your preferences:

• Data is stored indefinitely by default until you delete it
• You can enable auto-cleanup to automatically delete entries older than a specified number of days
• Uninstalling the extension will remove all stored data from your device

8. Updates to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of ClipTrace after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
